Mount St. Mary's honors local EMS providers

Mount St. Mary's Hospital held its 15th annual EMS Appreciation and Awards dinner on May 16 at the Niagara Falls Country Club. Representatives and honorees from 16 area volunteer fire companies, the City of Niagara Falls Fire Department and guests attended.
'Soldiers through the Ages' explores Old Fort Niagara's long military past

Old Fort Niagara welcomes the public to its "Soldiers through the Ages" military history re-enactment event on Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27, over Memorial Day weekend. This annual event features special displays of military vehicles, period camps from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, weapons demonstrations, uniform programs and hands-on activities for families. In commemoration of the centennial of the Battle of Cantigny in World War I, a special program will also be presented in the Fort Niagara Officers' Club.
21st annual Police Memorial Service honors officers killed on duty

Law enforcement personnel who died in the line of duty were honored Wednesday at the 21st annual Niagara Interfaith Chaplaincy Police Memorial Service. The event took place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 400 Ridge St., Lewiston.

"The Lions of Cantigny" is a colorful, prominent mural at the west end of the Fort Niagara Officers' Club main hall in Fort Niagara State Park. It depicts hand-to-hand combat between the U.S. Army's 28th Infantry Regiment and the German 18th Army on May 28 and 29, 1918.

The Nancy Price Memorial 5K Run will be held Saturday, May 12, starting at the Youngstown Firehall, 625 Third St. The race route will take runners through the village and along the river walking path at Fort Niagara State Park, ultimately ending back at the Youngstown Fire Department.
