All across the media spectrum, reports show that Americans are most concerned about current economic conditions. There is a great feeling of unease as the pandemic lingers on and a rise in inflation, the likes of which we have not seen in a generation or more, drives up costs on families. I can't tell you how many conversations I have had of late about how much people paid for a gallon of gas.

Deposits for Food (D4F) recently made its annual holiday donations to four Niagara County food pantries - just in time for the holidays. Checks totaling $3,000 were presented to Community Missions, and Heart, Love & Soul of Niagara Falls on Wednesday by D4F founder Angelo Sarkees. Checks were previously given to Wilson Food Pantry and Care-N-Share Pantry of Ransomville.

The resort will host its annual holiday tree-lighting celebration on Thursday, Dec. 2, starting at 5 p.m. on the casino said of the resort. Santa Claus will be on the scene, and he will have plenty of special helpers, including Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, Sabretooth, Billy Buffalo and Rex (Buffalo Bandits' mascot).

New York Power Authority fishing facilities, including the fishing pier at the base of NYPA's Robert Moses Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant, will close for the season, at dusk, Tuesday, Nov. 30. The fishing pier near the Upper Mountain Fire Co. at the Lewiston Reservoir and at the water intakes along the upper Niagara River will also close for the season.

After a two-year pause for building restoration, a much-loved holiday tradition will return to Lockport on Dec. 2 when the historic Col. William Bond House becomes the setting for "Winterfest Evening." The first brick house built in Lockport (circa 1823), the Bond House will be decorated for the holidays in 19th Century fashion.

New York Secretary of State Rossana Rosado on Tuesday announced her approval of the Town of Porter Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP), which provides a step-by-step process to advance the town's waterfront planning from vision to implementation. Porter's LWRP was prepared in partnership with the Department of State and supported by $34,250 in grant funding from the Environmental Protection fund (EPF).
