Press release

Today, emotionally driven pop-rock artist Cami Clune announced her forthcoming seven-track album, “should be sleeping,” which will be released Friday, July 10. Rooted in Clune’s genre-blending sound – fusing pop, rock, country influences and theatrical storytelling – the forthcoming project captures a pivotal emotional period in Clune’s life.

Recently featured by The New York Times, NPR, Reuters and USA Today following her viral NHL playoff anthem performance, and first introduced to national audiences as a finalist on NBC’s “The Voice” (season 19) – where she earned a rare four-chair turn and coach block – Clune continues to establish herself as a compelling new voice in pop-rock storytelling.

Presave and order “should be sleeping” here.

Following her latest single from the album, “Screwloose” (May 22), this announcement arrives alongside the official music video for “Your Favorite Song” from the project, released Jan. 30. Written by Clune and Nicholas Chiari, the track explores the complicated emotional tension of still caring for someone while recognizing the relationship has ended.

Storywise, the video begins in emotional blame and jealousy before gradually shifting into self-awareness, ultimately reframing the “other girl” narrative into something more introspective: the realization that the real conflict is not another person, but accepting that someone who once felt central to your life no longer belongs to it. The visual arc moves toward closure, grief and emotional maturity.

Filmed in Buffalo at Rec Room, the video leans into a nostalgic, character-driven ’70s-style aesthetic, a nod to Clune’s longstanding love of retro styling and a subtle connection to the emotional DNA of the track, including its reference point to The 1975. Production was repeatedly delayed due to severe Buffalo winter weather, an ongoing real-life backdrop that became a running joke online and unintentionally mirrored the emotional turbulence of the song.

“ ‘Your Favorite Song’ is about that complicated feeling of not wanting someone to be yours anymore, but also not wanting them completely off the line,” Clune shared. “You know the relationship is over, but there's still a part of you that hates seeing them move on – especially when they end up with the one person you hoped they wouldn't. Since ‘Somebody Else’ by The 1975 was both a song I played often and an ex's favorite song I sang, it felt like a fitting little easter egg to reference in the track.”

Clune said, “ ‘should be sleeping’ is a collection of songs written primarily during the summer of 2023, as I was navigating the end of my first long-term relationship and falling for someone who ultimately wasn’t who I thought they were. The album explores heartbreak, hope, limerence, and the late-night thoughts that come with trying to make sense of change. More than anything, it’s a snapshot of a season that shaped me into who I am today.”

The project features production and mixing from Keegan Ferrell, with mastering by Fred Miller, alongside a close-knit group of collaborators including Kyle May, Katlin Owen, Chiari, Tucker Richmond, Hamilton Belk, Matt Kelly and Grant Michaels. Together, they help shape a cohesive sonic world that moves between cinematic pop-rock, stripped-back intimacy, and country-inflected instrumentation.

With an unfiltered approach to songwriting, Clune continues carving out a space for emotionally honest pop music that embraces imperfection and contradiction. “should be sleeping” is only the beginning of this new chapter, showcasing both her sharp storytelling and her ability to pair introspective themes with memorable hooks, creating a track that feels equally fun, chaotic and deeply relatable.

More about Cami Clune: Raised in the suburbs of Buffalo, Clune grew up immersed in music, musical theater, and performance from an early age. Influenced by artists ranging from Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks to Olivia Rodrigo and Evanescence, she developed a genre-fluid artistic identity rooted in emotional storytelling and raw honesty. Early training in dance, piano and theater shaped her understanding of music as narrative-driven expression – a perspective that continues to define her songwriting today.

Known for her powerhouse vocals and cinematic pop-rock sound, Clune first gained national attention as a finalist on “The Voice.” Since then, she has built a dynamic independent career, serving as the official anthem singer for the Buffalo Sabres and performing for the Buffalo Bills, NASCAR events, and SailGP competitions, while creating music that blends pop, rock and country influences.
