The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum has announced eclipse-themed programming ahead of the total solar eclipse.

The museum will be open for play each day during spring break and the morning of April 8. Explore & More will also be hosting a family-friendly eclipse viewing party from 2-5 p.m. April 8.

Programming is suited for children ages 1-12, and their families.

Special museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1-7 (members only from 9:30-10 a.m.); and 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 8 (members only from 9-9:30 a.m.)

All week, guests can make eclipse-themed crafts in the fourth-floor art studio and create eclipse models in the “Tinkering Tank” on the third floor, along with other activities.

From April 1-5, guests can enjoy space food taste testing in the cooking galley on the fourth floor (11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day). Starting April 6, grab a pair of free Explore & More eclipse glasses exclusively at the museum (while supplies last).

On April 1, experts from the Penn Dixie Fossil Park & Nature Reserve will be onsite from noon to 1 p.m. to provide safety tips and other educational information.

Then, on April 2, the Buffalo Zoo will visit from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to help answer the question, “What will the animals do during the eclipse?” Each hour, zoo staffers will be joined by a different animal guest.

On April 4, guests can meet and take a selfie with Zelda the Owl when the Buffalo Audubon Society visits from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Find out how Zelda is preparing for the eclipse.

Then, on April 6, the final “Eclipse Readiness Day,” presented by LaBella, will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the “Tinkering Tank.” The event is designed to help guests gear up for the big event and become familiar with what an eclipse is and how to view it safely.

On April 8, Explore & More is hosting an exclusive family-friendly eclipse viewing party from 2-5 p.m. on the fourth floor and the outdoor rooftop terrace. Separate admission is required. Limited tickets for this special event are on sale for $25 each at ExploreAndMore.org.
