During the month of February, HART partnered with DiCamillo Bakery, Niagara Frontier Publications (Niagara County Tribune/Sentinel), and the community to raise over $15,000 to assist in the ongoing needs of the organization.

DiCamillo Bakery developed a special “HART cookie.” A portion of the proceeds, along with a generous donation from the bakery, totaled $1,297 for the campaign. The cookies were sold at all the DiCamillo retail stores.

“Everyone we spoke to who bought cookies said they were delicious,” said Christine S. O’Hara, executive director. “What a great way to ‘add a little flavor’ to what HART is, and how we help so many.”

She added, “We appreciate the support of Niagara Frontier Publications who helped spread the word throughout all of their print media outlets. NFP has always been a great supporter of HART. Additionally, the support from the community was overwhelming and so appreciated.”

Home Assistance Referral Team is a nonprofit referral service that connects seniors and others with qualified care, enabling them to live independently in their own homes. HART presently has over 275 active caregivers enrolled in the program. It serves both Niagara and Erie counties.

HART relies on the support of the community members, grants, foundations, and special events to continue its mission of serving the most vulnerable in the communities.
