The Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival will ring in its 16th year with new leadership at the helm: Former Artpark & Company President George Osborne has been appointed chairman of the executive board.

"Following the outstanding leadership of Dick Soluri and Carol Calato will not be an easy task, but I am grateful for the opportunity that has been provided to me by the Jazz Festival board of directors and excited about the prospects for an even better festival in the coming years," Osborne said. "With new management, a new music coordinator, a talented board of directors, and strong support from our sponsors and community, this coming year will be onward and upward."

The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce will serve as the executive coordinator, organizing the logistics and sponsorship of the festival. The chamber is currently working with 360 PSG of Amherst to design a new logo and website for the Jazz Festival.

Chamber President Jennifer Pauly said, "The chamber is excited to once again take on the responsibility of coordinating the Jazz Festival. Having a history of successfully coordinating in the past, we are excited to plan and execute with the current staff. Our office has served as an information source for visitors to the Jazz Festival and the transition has been seamless so far with the help of Artpark's staff. We have already started to plan for the 2017 festival and are working hard on securing sponsors for the August event."

Artpark & Company previously served as festival coordinator.

Tony Zambito, a local musician and founder of www.jazzbuffalo.org, was named music coordinator.

Other appointees to the executive board include First Vice Chair Calato, president of Calato Manufacturing; Treasurer Margaret Toohey of Lewiston Insurance Agency; Secretary Kevin Montante of Montante Solar; and Operations Director Jeff Jordan.

New board of director appointments include Joe Certo of Certo Brothers Distributing, Kathleen Neville of Neville Consultants Inc., Curt Stuart of Stuart Sports, and Donna Elia Tomkins of Sevenson Environmental Services.

The 16th annual Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival will take place in 2017 on Friday, Aug. 25, and Saturday, Aug. 26. For more information, contact Chamber of Commerce Sales & Marketing Manager Christina Crane at 716-754-9500, ext. 10, or by email at [email protected].
