The Buffalo Zoo is ready to welcome more than 2,500 people to this Friday's annual springtime fundraiser, BuffaLoveFest.
It began with an idea in 2013: A new fundraiser for the Buffalo Zoo that focused on all things Buffalo. It was an idea that took advantage of the food truck craze, excitement over the burgeoning craft beer industry, and renewed love and appreciation for all things Buffalo.
BuffaLoveFest at the Buffalo Zoo has quickly become a much-anticipated spring event held on the grounds of the iconic Buffalo cultural institution.
The Buffalo Zoo is thrilled with the response, with attendance doubling at the event since its inaugural year.
"There is something special about coming to the zoo on a late-spring evening to enjoy the exotic animal collection, music, food and shopping for those unique items with a Buffalo theme; not to mention, for one of the best causes Buffalo has to offer," said Todd Geise, the Buffalo Zoo's director of marketing.
BuffaLoveFest 2016 will take place from 5:30-9 p.m. In addition to more than 50 artisan vendors and 20 food trucks, featured bands include The BuffaLoveBirds All-Star Band, Tiger Chung Lee and Den of Lions.
Funds raised from the $20-per-person fundraiser provide support for the care and maintenance of the Buffalo Zoo's living collection.
The event is for the 21-and-up crowd. Presale ticket rate expires at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, with $30 door tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The public should be aware the Buffalo Zoo will close early this Friday in order to set up for the event. Entry gates will close at 2 p.m., and grounds will close at 3 p.m. Patrons should plan their visit accordingly.
