Dear friend of the Village of Lewiston:

As summer approaches, the Village of Lewiston has begun planning for the annual July 4 fireworks display.

This event is a tradition the village is hoping to continue. It is with urgency that we reach out to our local businesses and caring individuals to continue generously contributing to keep this tradition going.

The Village of Lewiston is proud to provide the only Fourth of July fireworks in the Lewiston-Porter area. With the cutbacks and budgeting restraints, our local government is finding it harder and harder to finance the $8,500 cost of the fireworks display.

This patriotic display is enjoyed by a community of people from all over Western New York and Southern Ontario. The fireworks display is scheduled for Monday, July 4, at dark, with a rain date of Tuesday July 5. This display can be enjoyed throughout a great portion of the village and brings many families and individuals into our community to enjoy the show.

The Academy Park Bandshell will be featuring patriotic and a mix of family-oriented music by Altered Angels, a young rock band, from 6-9 p.m. for your entertainment while you wait for the fireworks. This show is sponsored by the Village of Lewiston.

At this time, we ask for your support to help us raise the funds in order to continue our traditional Independence Day celebration.

To show our appreciation for your support we will place an ad listing all contributors in the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel in July.

Please forward your contribution to the village clerk's office at P.O. Box 325, 145 N. Fourth St., Lewiston NY 14092.

With sincere gratitude.
