YMCA Buffalo Niagara has announced it will open online registration for the 120th annual YMCA Turkey Trot at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3.

Presented by ADPRO Sports, the Turkey Trot will take place Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 26, and once again is expected to sellout. Online registration is available at www.ymcabn.org and will remain open until noon Nov. 19 or until capacity is reached.

Organizers report that, for the safety of all race participants and spectators, as well as those attending the post-race party in the Convention Center, the capacity will once again be set at 14,000.

Paper registrations will be accepted until Oct. 16 (a downloadable form is available at www.ymcabn.org). The cost to participate is $35 until Oct. 16, and $40 from Oct. 17-Nov. 19. Entry fee includes all online processing fees and a commemorative T-shirt.

The race itself begins at 9 a.m. sharp at the Delaware Family YMCA, 2564 Delaware Ave., Buffalo, and concludes on the finish line at Franklin and Court streets near the Buffalo Convention Center.

Participants are welcome to enjoy the post-race celebration and awards presentation at the Convention Center. The family-friendly post-race area will once again be held in Statler City across the street from the Convention Center, where participants and their families can enjoy nonalcoholic beverages and refreshments.

Proceeds from the event help make YMCA programs and services accessible to children and families who would otherwise be unable to afford them.

Last year, race participants helped provide more than $1 million in financial assistance to Western New York families in need.
