Catholic Charities of Buffalo elects four trustees

Four new members have been elected to the Catholic Charities of Buffalo board of trustees. They are the Rev. Gregory Dobson, Christina Orsi, Deacon Miguel Santos and Stephen Ulrich.

Dobson is pastor of St. Mary of Angels and the canonical administrator of Southern Tier Catholic School, both in Olean. Orsi is Western New York regional director at Empire State Development. Santos is a consumer advocate for National Grid and serves as deacon at Holy Cross Parish and with the Diocese of Buffalo's office of cultural diversity. Ulrich is owner of Granite Spine LLC.

Dennis Walczyk, Catholic Charities CEO, said, "We welcome these individuals who each bring significant expertise and a passion for our work of providing hope for people in need in our community."

In her role, Orsi leads the New York state economic development initiatives in the Western New York region, is executive director of the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council and project manager for the "Buffalo Billion" investment. She serves on the boards of Buffalo Urban Development Corp. and Buffalo Erie Niagara Land Improvement Corp., and is an advisory member of EastWest Institute New York.

Dobson serves as chaplain to the Olean Knights of Columbus and is on the boards of Archbishop Walsh Academy and the Greater Olean Association of Churches. He was awarded the YMCA's Salute to Olean for humanitarian leadership, and 2007 Man of the Year by the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks before joining its ranks in 2008.

As a consumer advocate, Santos assists low-income and special-needs customers through crisis bill-paying management, outreach and education. He serves on various boards and committees, including the Lancaster Community Emergency Team, and Buffalo & Erie County Library community advisory board.

Ulrich served in volunteer leadership roles with Appeals 2010-12 in support of Catholic Charities, capping his service as chairman of the 2013 Appeal. He is chairman of the 2014 Canisius High School GAMBIT and a member of the Canisius College Leadership Society.
