The Lewiston-Porter Alumni Association is holding its annual Jason Raby Memorial 5K Run and Walk this weekend.
The event funds various scholarships made possible through the LPAA.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lew-Port campus on Creek Road. The 1-mile walk will start at 10:30 a.m. and the 5K run will be held at 11 a.m. The registration fee varies for participants, ranging from $10-$22.
Jason Raby was a 2001 Lewiston-Porter graduate, who passed away while attending Niagara University in 2008.
Raby's athletic ability and dedication to sports while in school are recognized through the run and walk each year.
The Raby family has had a great influence on the Lewiston community.
His father, Gary, and sister, Jennifer, attended Lew-Port and coached cross-country as well as track and field.
Gary will be awarding participants at the event in various categories, including the overall finishers and top three males and females per age group.
The family division awards provide opportunities for race participants to receive trophies and recognition that would not be traditionally expected in other races.
Ann Johnston, LPAA member, urges all local residents to "come out and support this great family event."
