Grand Island Dance Center recently took part in the Fairy House Festival, a yearly event held at Artpark in the Village of Lewiston.
The students dressed in their ballet costumes with fairy make-up and fairy wings and performed their ballet dances for the onlookers. The students from GI Dance Center, located at 2407 Grand Island Blvd. in the Grand Island Plaza, look forward to this informal performance every year.
"The dancers were great, and even though it started raining on them at the last minute, they didn't miss a beat!" said Nicole Koertgen, one of the ballet instructors from the school.
Rachel Novelli, the studio director, said that they like to keep the students busy with outside performances. "It is so important for students to perform, whether it be in a parade, recital or something informal like this outside setting - it really helps a dancer grow in so many ways. We take advantage of every performance opportunity that comes our way and even search them out when we can."
Next up for the busy studio will be the Fourth of July Parade and, after that, Summer Dance Camp for toddlers to sixth-graders, and dance intensive for middle-schoolers and older.
