On Tuesday, July 30, from 1 to 3 p.m., Niagara University will hold a small reception in honor of the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., as he steps aside as president. The going away gathering will be held on the Niagara campus in St. Vincent's Hall, rooms 405-406.
Individuals from the local community are invited to join the university community as it extends appreciation to Levesque for his work at NU and throughout Western New York.
This past January, Levesque announced that he would be stepping aside as president of Niagara after 13 years. The university's board of trustees has granted Levesque the esteemed title of "President Emeritus." In March, the NU board announced the Rev. James Maher, C.M., would become Niagara's next president, taking on that role on Aug. 1.
On July 10, the board of St. John's announced Levesque was selected to serve as its interim president while the university searches for a successor to the Rev. Donald Harrington, C.M.
There will be no formal program for the event on July 30. Light refreshments will be served.
Parking will be available in the O'Shea lot, and shuttle service will be offered to St. Vincent's Hall.
