The Buffalo Sabres today announced that Craig Kanalley has joined the organization to oversee the team's social media platforms in the position of social media manager. Kanalley comes to the Sabres after working as a senior editor for The Huffington Post since 2011.

"Social media continues to be one of the more dynamic and ever-growing vehicles to drive brands in sports," said Brent Rossi, the Sabres' vice president of brand strategy and marketing. "Craig has a proven track record of staying ahead of trends in social media and creating a powerful presence in the digital space. We are excited to add him to our team and we look forward to implementing his creativity in our organization's social media platforms."

In his role, Kanalley will be responsible for developing strategies and campaigns to enhance the Buffalo Sabres' brand, profile, and engagement in the social media space. His responsibilities will also include the day-to-day management and execution of social media plans and campaigns for the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bandits (NLL).

Kanalley first joined The Huffington Post in 2009 as a traffic and trends editor after founding Breaking Tweets, a news website that tracked world news through the use of Twitter. He has also worked as a social media editor for NBC News and was an editorial assistant and staff writer for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

A Buffalo native, Kanalley graduated from St. John Fisher College with a bachelor's degree in communication/journalism and received a master's degree in online journalism and new media from DePaul University.
