In celebration of Father's Day and National Men's Health Month, the Board of Associates of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center is sponsoring the 13th annual "A Father's Day Gift of Love and Life" - a free prostate cancer screening - from June 10-15.

The free PSA screening will be held Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon in the outpatient center in the north lobby of the hospital, 5300 Military Road, Town of Lewiston. The outpatient center can be conveniently reached through the north entrance driveway off Military Road.

"This is a great opportunity for men to have a screening that can make a difference in their lives," said Richard Faiola, vice president of Shipman Print Solutions and chair of the event for the board of associates. "The PSA blood test is simple and it often indicates a potential problem before any symptoms appear. We are proud to be able to sponsor this program and hope that everyone will encourage their loved ones to participate in 'A Father's Day Gift of Love and Life.' "

Last year, more than 350 men were screened. Screening is recommended for men ages 40 and up, especially those with a family history of prostate cancer. Pre-registration for the free screening in not necessary. This is not a fasting test. Results will be forwarded to each participant's personal physician.

Free gift certificates are available for presentation to loved ones by calling 716-298-2145. Gift certificates are not required to have a screening.
