The 2013 Billboard Music Awards will honor Madonna with the Top Touring Artist Award for her 2012 MDNA tour. Madonna will take the stage to accept the prestigious award, which recognizes the highest grossing concert touring act of the year. This award is a result of the extraordinary success of her global MDNA tour, which has grossed more than $305 million from 88 sold-out shows before audiences of 2.2 million.
The broadcast, executive-produced by Don Mischer, will air live from Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, May 19 (8 p.m.), on the ABC Television Network.
A cultural icon, Madonna is one of the most successful and influential entertainers of all time. She was recently named Billboard's Top Money Maker of 2012. When it comes to Billboard chart-topping history, Madonna is like no other: She holds the record for both the most Top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 (38) and No. 1s on the Dance Club Songs chart (43). She's also earned 20 Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 and 56 Hot 100 hits - 12 of which went straight to No. 1.
