Town of Niagara Police Blotter for March 28, 2013

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between March 19 and 25.

Tuesday, March 19

•7000 block of Laur Road, EMS. A 73-year-old male was reported having difficulty breathing. He was transported to Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center by Rural Metro Ambulance.

•8000 block of Colonial Drive, driving while intoxicated. A 30-year-old Colonial Drive man was arrested for DWI after probation officers who had stopped the man in his driveway called patrol.

Wednesday, March 20

•Tuscarora Road and Effie Drive, traffic tickets. Patrol made three traffic arrests at this corner.

•1900 block of Military Road, larceny. Patrol arrested a 24-year-old Amherst woman for her part in shoplifting six pairs of jeans valued at $1,009 at a mall store.

•3300 block of Military Road, recovered property. A business owner reported one of his drivers found a purse on the tip of a limo bus that contained a handgun. A check found that the .380 semi-automatic was reported stolen to the Buffalo Police Department in September 2012.

Thursday, March 21

•5100 block of Lockport Road, burglary. Complainant said someone kicked in the door her home while she was out and stole firearms and computers.

•3500 block of Hyde Park Boulevard, suspicious vehicle. Patrol checked on a vehicle outside a business and found a Canadian man sleeping, who stated he was waiting until morning to meet one of the business owners to purchase a vehicle for sale.

•2400 block of Military Road, accident. Two drivers collided in a parking lot and blamed the accident on icy conditions.

Friday, March 22

•2300 block of Maryland Avenue, burglary. A business reported an overnight burglary when a vehicle apparently drove into the garage door to gain entry. Suspect stole approximately 10 catalytic converters, tools and cash, then spilled oil in the workbay area.

•3200 block of Lockport Road, larceny. A business reported that within the past month someone cut a rear fence and entered the property to steal about 20 feet of copper grounding wire.

•Tuscarora Road and Effie Drive, drug arrest. A 40-year-old Expressway Village man was arrested when he drove through a flashing red light, and patrol, with the assistance of the U.S. Border Patrol, searched his vehicle and found marijuana.

Saturday, March 23

•1900 block of Military Road, EMS. Mall business reported a 57-year-old employee fell from a ladder and struck his head. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center by Rural Metro Ambulance.

7800 block of Packard Road, suspicious find. Two males reported that while walking through the woods they came across a bone that they believed to be human. The scene was secured and the coroner secured the bone for further investigation.

•7100 block of Lockport Road, reckless driving/road rage. Complainant came to Town Hall to report someone followed his vehicle from the north Grand Island Bridge to Lockport Road, flashing their lights and beeping their horn at him.

Sunday, March 24

•2000 block of Tuscarora Road, domestic. A woman complained she had an argument with her husband that led to her 12-year-old son trying to intervene on her behalf. Her husband punched the boy twice in the face. A warrant was issued for third degree assault, second degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

•3100 block of Portland Street, vandalism. Complainant reported someone shot paintballs at both his house and vehicle.

Monday, March 25

•2200 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard, Wheatfield, aid assist. Patrol requested by Niagara County Sheriff's Office to check a report of a confused elderly male driving backwards into doughnut business' drive-thru lane. Male had done the same at the doughnut business across the street. Gone on arrival.

•1800 block of Military Road, shoplifting, two women and a male left a mall store with three pairs of sunglasses valued at $835. Suspects evaded mall security when one of the females entered a car and picked up the other two, but the merchandise was dropped and recovered by security, but found to be damaged.

•3100 block of Sadlo Drive, noise complaint. Complainant stated loud music has been coming from a neighboring residence every night for a week. Patrol attempted to make contact with the resident with negative results.
