'Spring It On': Buffalo/Niagara's 'Day of Giving' set for March 1

Unprecedented 24-hour "give-a-thon" to support more than 180 local organizations

"Spring It On," a new, 24-hour online giving event designed to raise awareness and funds for not-for-profit organizations in the Buffalo/Niagara community, will take place from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

A first-of-its-kind event in this community, "Spring It On" will mobilize local residents for one day of giving to strengthen and support the nonprofits that make this region a vibrant place to live. It allows individuals to be part of something that can have a tremendous impact on a variety of organizations and those they serve within a very short timeframe.

Individuals can make a one-time, secure, online donation to the local not-for-profit agency of their choice through a specially designed website. Participating organizations and the United Way will be promoting the event through online communications including websites, emails, social media and through traditional communications to their constituencies.

More than 180 non-profit organizations throughout Erie and Niagara counties, representing all sectors including arts and cultural, health and human services, environmental, religious, animal protection and others, have signed on to participate. The event is being by the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County.
