State Sen. George Maziarz, R-C-Newfane, has announced that he was awarded the highest percentage for a New York state senator in conservative ratings for the 2012 legislative session by the Conservative Party of New York State. Maziarz received a 90, the highest among his colleagues throughout the state, (tying with Senator Ball from the 40th Senate District).

"I have long been a supporter of Conservative Party ideals in the New York State Senate and this year was no different," Maziarz said. "Representing a large number of conservative voters in the 62nd District is something that I am proud of and I will continue to advocate for them and for all of my constituents in Niagara, Orleans and Monroe counties in Albany so that upstate interests continue to be protected."

The legislative rating is based upon how the legislators throughout the state vote on 19 key bills acted upon in the current year and the tax increase from last year. This year, the overall State Senate rating is 72.54 percent, putting Maziarz way above his contemporaries.

"Consistently Senator Maziarz has obtained high ratings from the Conservative Party of New York State," said Niagara County Conservative Party Chairman Daniel Weiss. "It is important that the voice of Conservative constituents are being heard in Albany throughout the legislative process, and Senator Maziarz's high ratings are proof that it is happening."

"Senator Maziarz has stood up for conservatives in his district throughout all of his years in Albany," said Orleans County Conservative Party Chairman Allan Lofthouse. "It is clear that Orleans County Conservatives have a friend in the Senate with Senator Maziarz, and I am hopeful that we will continue our relationship for many years to come."
