Erie County Sheriff's Office Report for July 12, 2012

The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 163 calls from June 23 to 29. Below is a sampling of incidents the ECSO reported to the Island Dispatch.

Deputies responded to 13 burglary false alarms for the dates of this report.

Saturday, June 23

•Grand Island Boulevard, welfare check - A complainant stated that a parked vehicle had an unsupervised infant inside. Deputies checked but were unable to locate any vehicles with an infant inside.

•Bedell Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that his vehicle's side mirror had been removed while parked overnight. The complainant was able to re-attach the mirror and did not wish to pursue any further action.

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious person - A complainant stated she saw two individuals stumbling in the roadway. Deputies checked but were unable to locate the individuals.

•Ferry Road, burglary - A complainant stated that someone stole alcohol from a garage during the night. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Baseline Road, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks could be heard in the area. Deputies checked but were unable to locate the source.

•Morningside Drive, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks could be heard in the area. Deputies checked but were unable to locate the source.

Sunday, June 24

•Ward Park Road, loud music - A complainant stated loud music was coming from a house in the neighborhood. Deputies located the house and advised the occupants.

•Love Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that two subjects were throwing rocks at houses late at night. Deputies located several individuals in the area, but were unable to determine if any were involved.

•Whitehaven Road, burglary - Deputies responded to an alarm ringing at the Nike Base. Upon arrival, deputies located two windows that had been damaged and determined that the building was entered. While inside, the unknown subjects did damage to the building. Deputies checked the building and surrounding area, but were unable to locate any subjects. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•East River Road, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone stole kayaks from a marina. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Woodstream Circle, animal loose - A complainant stated that she found a loose dog in the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

•Whitetail Run, animal loose - A complainant stated that she found a loose dog in the neighborhood. The dog control officer was notified.

•Huth Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that cars were racing up and down the street. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description.

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious person - Deputies located a suspicious female walking around an amusement park parking lot late at night. The subject was advised.

Monday, June 25

•Carter Drive, youth activity - A complainant stated that several youths were walking the neighborhood and being disruptive late at night. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the youths.

•I-190, traffic arrest - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 34-year-old man from Irving after a Department of Motor Vehicles check showed his license was currently suspended. The man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and other traffic infractions. He was issued traffic tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•I-190, traffic arrest - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 35-year-old Niagara Falls man after a DMV check showed his license was currently suspended. The man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and other traffic infractions. He was issued traffic tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•Blackmon Road, youth activity - A complainant stated that a youth damaged her vehicle by running into it with his scooter. Deputies located the youth and advised his parents to contact the complainant.

•Love Road, larceny - A complainant stated that her bicycle was stolen while she was inside of grocery store. Deputies' investigation led to the arrest of a juvenile offender for petit larceny. The juvenile offender was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Erie County Family Court and released to the custody of his parents.

•Garden Parkway, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks could be heard in the area. Deputies checked but were unable to locate the source.

Tuesday, June 26

•East River Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was heard from a bar in the area. Deputies spoke to the bar owner, who agreed to turn the music down.

Wednesday, June 27

•East River Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a vehicle was swerving all over the road. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Carl Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that someone had spray-painted a garage in the neighborhood. Deputies found spray paint on a patch of grass, but no garage was spray-painted.

•West River Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check of an individual who applied for a pistol permit.

•Woodstream Drive, residential burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime during the day, someone stole a bicycle from his garage. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Glen Avon Road, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks were being used in the area. Deputies checked but were unable to locate the source.

Thursday, June 28

•Staley Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Baseline Road, wire down - Deputies responded to a report of wires down.

•Alvin Road, larceny - A complainant stated that someone stole various items from his property. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Grand Island Boulevard, refer to patrol - Complainants at a gas station/convenience store stated that a vehicle drove off without paying for gas. Deputies spoke to the individual, who returned and paid for the fuel.

•Continental Lane, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that she saw several individuals who appeared to be breaking into vehicles. Deputies located the individuals, who were apparently playing a prank on a friend.

Friday, June 29

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious vehicle - Deputies located a suspicious vehicle in a supermarket parking lot late at night. The individual inside was advised.

•Huth Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that it appeared his car window was damaged intentionally. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Ferry Road, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle broke down.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Grand Island Boulevard, disorderly person - A complainant stated that a male subject was refusing to leave an amusement park when he was asked to by employees. Deputies located the individual, who was escorted off the property without incident.

•Carter Creek Drive, fireworks use - A complainant stated that fireworks could be heard in the area. Deputies checked but were unable to locate the source.

•Love Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated that a suspicious male was seen walking around Kaegebein Elementary School. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the individual.

•East River Road, loud music - A complainant stated that loud music was coming from a business in the area. Deputies located the business and the music was turned down.
