Harold "Sarge" Hess, entered into rest Nov. 15, 2011. He was a resident of Grand Island.
He was the husband of the late Helen Hess, and the father of Brenda (Steven) Hess-Sulley and Donald Hess. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Orrelle (Dorothy) Hess and uncle of Frank Burrows.
A service of remembrance will be held at Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9249, 2121 Grand Island Blvd., on Grand Island at a later date.
Hess was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a retired veterans counselor for the state of New York. He was a life member of VFW Charles DeGlopper Memorial Post No. 9249, a member of the American Legion Post No. 1346 and a member of Grand Island Moose Lodge 180. He also had many friends at the Grand Island Rod and Gun Club.
