Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and the Niagara Falls City School District will host a local site for the National Prescription Drug Drop-Off on Saturday, Oct. 29.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day all medications, whether sold by prescription or over the counter, will be accepted in the parking lot of the former South Junior High School, Walnut Avenue at Portage Road. Needles also will be accepted.
Flushing old medications can contaminate the water table and eventually drinking water. Numerous state and national surveys show prescription pain medications becoming the drug of choice among teens with most reporting taking the medications from someone's home.
