Virtuoso unopposed for re-election

Sylvia Virtuoso is seeking a fourth term as town clerk for the Town of Niagara.

Virtuoso has earned the accreditation of registered municipal clerk by continuing her education and learning experience throughout her term. Virtuoso holds a degree in business administration and several other certifications.

A Democrat, she has brought many changes and new ideas to the clerk's office. Virtuoso continuously works to keep up with technology so the town works at its most efficient and up-to-date status. She has developed and maintains the town website, has brought in passport services as a service to residents and additional revenue for the town.

The Town of Niagara Town Board has consolidated departments and eliminated the position of tax collector starting in 2012, turning over those duties to the town clerk. Virtuoso is working on adding the ability to pay taxes online at the town website. Virtuoso has been endorsed by the Democrat, Republican, Independent, Conservative parties.

Virtuoso said she takes great pride in her position as town clerk, as well as her role as an active community leader throughout Niagara County. She is currently chairman of the Town Bicentennial Committee, and is a member of the New York State Town Clerk's Association, the Niagara County Municipal Clerk Association, the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary, St. Francis Guild and Cristoforo Colombo Society. She also is a graduate of Leadership Niagara, past president and board member for the Pine Avenue Business Association, past director of the Niagara Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of the Niagara Electric Lights Parade.

She has served the Town of Niagara to the best of her ability and looks forward to continuing the professional and personable service to the residents and businesses of the Town of Niagara.  A special thanks to all the past support and looks forward to continue serving the Town of Niagara Community and working with a very dedicated Town Supervisor, Steven C. Richards, Town Board members, Department Heads and Employees in making the Town of Niagara a great place to live, shop and do business.

She is a partner in Guido's Upholstering and Decorating Center for 30 years.

Virtuoso is a resident of the Town of Niagara for 29 years where she and her husband Guido have raised two daughters, Cristina and Diana, in this family community.
