Parent Network of WNY is sponsoring a free workshop, "Special Education: What's It All About?" On Friday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Niagara County Community College, Room C163 (use parking lot No. 4) on the Saunders Settlement Road campus in Sanborn.

"Special Education: What's It All About?" will offer participants a better understanding of the special education process, including referrals, evaluations and the Committee on Special Education (CSE)/Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) meeting. Additionally, those who attend the workshop will learn about the different members of the CSE/CPSE, what each person's role is and how a parent fits into the whole process. The workshop will also discuss how to develop an Individualized Education Program and discover ways to ensure that it is truly individualized. All parents, caregivers and professionals who have or work with students who have special needs are encouraged to come to this workshop.
