State Sen. George Maziarz will host a free Child Safety Day on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the North Tonawanda City Hall, 216 Payne Ave. The event runs from 9 to 11 a.m.

"I invite any family to stop by our event and learn about ways to keep kids safe," Maziarz said. "Kids are back in school now, and it's an appropriate time to be thinking about putting their safety first."

Child Safety Day will feature Child ID kits and fingerprinting, car seat safety checks, the K-9 unit from the North Tonawanda Police Department, a fire truck and fire safety robot from Frontier Volunteer Fire Co., and child safety brochures and information.

Entertainment will include Do-Do the Clown, a bounce house, and refreshments.

Also that morning, Upstate New York Transplant Services will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to noon. Call 512-7940, or walk-ins are welcome.
