The Lewiston Council on the Arts is accepting applications for musical acts to perform at the “Lewiston Porchfest Unplugged” event, which will coincide with the annual GardenFest, from noon to 5 p.m. June 15.

“Porchfest” is a music festival in which musicians set up on a porch (or deck, driveway or other place), and those passing by – on their way to an open garden, perhaps! – are treated to a concert.

“We are excited to work with the Garden Club to give local musicians a performance opportunity and to enhance the garden tour experience of the Garden Festival,” LCA Executive Director Maria Fortuna Dean said.

√ The LCA is accepting online applications from bands and solo artists of all ages and abilities who perform various genres including folk, jazz, rock, blues, reggae, classical, R&B, rap, bluegrass, pop and others. Applicants are required to complete the online application and to submit a link to a representative video of their act. Applicants will be reviewed by a panel, and a limited number of performers will be invited to participate.

√ Acoustic instruments are encouraged where possible. Sound from performances should operate at a level where it is not able to be heard at other “Porchfest” locations.

√ All participate as volunteers, and all give freely of their time, talents, resources and hospitality as a gift to the community and visitors. Musicians are free to put out a tip jar or sell their music and merchandise.

√ Only those bands/musicians who have applied and been accepted by the Lewiston Council on the Arts and who display their LCA “Porchfest” permit will be permitted to perform.

Would you like to be a “Porchfest” host? Here’s what is needed:

√ An outdoor area (porch, driveway, yard, balcony, garage) that has easy access to a power supply.

√ All porch hosts will be required to either have a covered porch or provide the band with a canopy or some other protection from the elements.

√ The location must be visible to the general public who may be walking by.

Applications for musicians and hosts can be found at artcouncil.org
