The Western New York Scout Council, Boy Scouts of America, will hold its annual Distinguished Citizen Award event on Wednesday, June 12, to recognize Eugene P. Vukelic, the chairman of Try-It Distributing Co. Inc.

A press release stated, “Mr. Vukelic personifies the spirit of Scouting and has dedicated his life to God, his family, his business, and the WNY community. His passions have had a positive impact on our community through his philanthropic activity, his passion to help others, and his commitment to empathy for all.

“The Distinguished Citizen Award is presented to individual community leaders who provide outstanding civic service to the community. Those who receive the award are not necessarily Scouting volunteers, but rather individuals who personify what Scouting stands for: good citizenship, outstanding dedication to serving others, and living their lives by the principles of Scouting.”

The Western New York Scout Council, BSA, serves over 6,000 youth and adults in the communities of Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties. Scouting programs include Cub Scouts for youth in grades K-5; Scouts BSA for youth ages 11 to 17; Venturing, Sea Scouts and Exploring for youth ages 14 to 20.
