Fallsview Casino Press Release

Prepare to be blown again once again by the presence of legendary rock star Sir Rod Stewart on Sept. 15, as he serenades fans with his distinctive voice, suave dance moves and classic songs. On July 10, one of the most popular punk rock bands of the ’90s and American icons, The Offspring will bring their electric energy to the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino.

"Sir Rod Stewart is a true rock legend, and we have had the great privilege of having him back," said Cathy Price, Niagara Casino's vice president of marketing. “While Rod Stewart will be bringing his hits this September, The Offspring, who are arguably one of the most famous bands of the ’90s thanks to their extensive catalog of chart-topping singles, will be rocking out this July.”

Sir Rod Stewart is one of the best-selling artists in the history of recorded music, with over 250 million records and singles sold worldwide. His signature voice, style and songwriting have transcended all genres of popular music, from rock, folk, soul, R&B, and even the Great American Songbook, making him one of the few stars to enjoy chart-topping albums throughout every decade of his career.

With his 1978 No. 1 single, Sir Rod Stewart famously asked the world “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” 100 million record sales later, it’s safe to say the world answered “Yes.” As one of the top-selling artists of all time, with a career spanning four decades, the British singer-songwriter is one of the most celebrated figures in rock ’n’ roll history. The times may have changed, but Stewart’s appeal hasn’t – with his 28th studio album, 2013’s “Time,” the raspy crooner once again topped the U.K. Albums Chart – the first time he’d done so since the release of his “Greatest Hits Volume 1” in 1979.

Stewart got his start as a solo artist in the early ’70s, achieving his first mainstream success with blues rock hit “Maggie May” from 1971’s “Every Picture Tells a Story.” In the late ’70s and early ’80s, the singer would adopt disco and new wave influences on much success, including the 1978 No. 1 “Blondes Have More Fun” and 1981’s “Tonight I’m Yours,” which featured the hit “Young Turks.”

On tour, Stewart has treated ticket buyers to rollicking sets of his greatest hits, proving that “Rod the Mod” still knows how to give one heck of a live concert.

The Offspring formed in 1986 in Huntington Beach, California, with original members Dexter Holland (vocals/guitar), Greg K. (bass) and Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman (lead guitar). Behind the strength of hit singles “Come Out and Play,” “Self Esteem” and “Gotta Get Away,” the band’s 1994 breakthrough album “Smash” launched The Offspring into international superstardom.

They followed up in 1997 with the Platinum-certified “Ixnay on the Hombre,” adding the hits “All I Want” and “Gone Away” to their impressive catalog. Their eclectic 1998 album, “Americana,” proved that they were one of the era’s most potent and versatile hit-making machines with the serious tone of megahit “The Kids Aren’t Alright,” which stood in stark contrast to humorous singles “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)” and “Why Don’t You Get a Job.” Since then, the band has continued to record and release material, including the double-Platinum “Conspiracy of One” in 2000.

While working on a follow up to their 2012 album, “Days Go By,” The Offspring continue to bring their music to legions of fans worldwide.
