Attempted murder nets guilty plea in Niagara County

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Kalique Miller, age 19, of Niagara Falls, entered a guilty plea today in County Court to the charges of attempted murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. Miller admitted to shooting a 22-year-old woman multiple times in the Falls on Nov. 10, 2022.

Miller also pled to attempted aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He admitted to shooting at police officer James Bissell in the Town of Niagara on Jan. 18, 2023.

Miller faces up to 35 years in prison when he returns to be sentenced by Judge Caroline Wojtaszek on April 18.

DA Seaman said, “This defendant shot and nearly killed a young lady, then in a separate incident, fired at police. We will be asking the judge to impose the full 35 years for the safety of the community and because these crimes deserve it.”

The cases were investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department, the Town of Niagara and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney Mattie Davis.
