Artpark sets 14th annual Fairy House Festival for Saturday, July 13

In celebration of Artpark & Company’s 50th anniversary season, Artpark’s Fairy House Festival will return for the 14th year on Saturday, July 13. The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. in Artpark’s lower park (South Fourth Street entrance).

A press release stated, “This year's theme, ‘The Fairy House Galapagos,’ will focus on our ever-changing climates, and is presented by Artpark and Juno’s Ark.”

Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased in advance for $12. Tickets are available for purchase online at ticketmaster.com.

The price increases to $15 on the day of the event.

Ticket prices include a facility fee. Additional fees apply for online orders.

The Fairy House Festival will be directed by David Glass. Juno’s Ark Galapagos is a partnership with DGE and David Pearl. Uta Bekaia will again provide costumes, and the Jon Lehrer Dance Company will return. Additional performances will be offered by Sketchbook Theater and Artpark Bridges.

Fairy houses will be created by local and regional artists, plus families and groups, and on display in the lower park.

“Prepare to be dazzled by the spectacular Mother Nature and the thoughtful Father Time as they lead the charge with our mystical and steam-punk fairies to take on the devastation of the villainous Sir Lord Doctor Professor Maximillion Betraius and their nefarious waste-generating and nature-stealing minions.

“The future of Mother Nature and the fairies' magical realm hangs in the balance, and only your playful spirit, imagination and joy can save the day!

“Discover the answers to Mother Nature’s question: Just how can we be better partners with our ever-changing Mother Earth?”

Artpark & Company noted, “The 14th annual event has evolved from an art walk of miniature fairy houses installed in the park by both local community and professional artists into an international, interdisciplinary and immersive performing arts festival with interactive performances by international, national and local actors, performers and musicians presented in the setting of the park overlooking the Niagara Gorge.

“Visitors can marvel at the fairy house creations and enjoy the whimsical and enchanting Artpark Fairies, along with their steam-punk fairy friends, featuring exciting new costumes created by Uta Bekaia, a multimedia artist residing and working in New York and Tbilisi. He creates performances and installations inhabited with wearable sculptures, exploring his historical cultural background and cycles of the universe.”

Bekaia he is a resident artist at ART OMI (New York) and in partnership with ERTI Gallery (Tbilisi).
