Niagara Falls: Gas station robbery update

The Niagara Falls Police Department has charged a 57-year-old Niagara Falls man for his involvement in the alleged assault and robbery that took place on the morning of Friday, Jan. 19, at a gas station on Buffalo Avenue.

The City of Niagara Falls Office of the Mayor/Public Information Officer said a female clerk remains hospitalized for injuries she sustained after being struck numerous times in the head with a hammer during the event.

The man was taken into custody Monday afternoon and charged with one count of assault in the first degree and two counts of robbery in the first degree. His bail was set at $500,000 cash or $1,000,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to Niagara Falls City Court for a preliminary hearing.

A press release stated, “The quick arrest was the result of the diligent work of lead detectives Kevin Henderson and Kenneth Redmond and members of the criminal investigation and crime scene units, as well as critical information developed by patrol officer Joshua Salada.

“Even with the arrest, the investigation continues, and police are still asking anyone with information to contact detectives at 716-286-4553.”
