Western New York’s generosity was on full display through Wegmans’ recent successful “Check Out Hunger” campaign for FeedMore WNY. Through the support of Wegmans and its customers, more than $423,500 was raised to support FeedMore WNY’s mission of offering dignity, hope and brighter futures by providing nutritious food, friendship and skills training to community members experiencing food insecurity.

During the end of October and through November, Wegmans customers had the opportunity to donate $2, $3, $5 or any amount at the register to benefit FeedMore WNY.

“We so appreciate our Wegmans customers, who give so generously every year, supporting the incredible work of FeedMore WNY,” said Patty Kaminski, Wegmans SVP, Buffalo division manager.

Wegmans has been alleviating food insecurity through its “Check Out Hunger” campaign for 30 years. The campaign is a vital fundraiser for FeedMore WNY as it continues to meet the growing need for food assistance throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.

FeedMore WNY President and CEO Tara A. Ellis said, “We are tremendously thankful for the incredible partnership of everyone at Wegmans, as well as Wegmans’ compassionate customers, who made this amazing ‘Check Out Hunger’ donation possible. ‘Check Out Hunger’ is the largest annual fundraiser for FeedMore WNY, and it enables our organization to continue our programs that offer critical food assistance for community members of all ages, nourishing meals and well-being checks for homebound neighbors and older adults, nutrition education opportunities and free workforce development training. Wegmans is a steadfast supporter of our mission. Whether they are helping to raise donations for their food-insecure neighbors or volunteering in our warehouse to sort and pack food, the Wegmans team is always there to help FeedMore WNY.”
