Ontario House holiday tours are a unique experience

Youngstown Garden Club event continues to Dec. 17

The Youngstown Garden Club reported a successful opening weekend for its Ontario House holiday tours. Tastefully decorated by Garden Club members, the viewing offers the visitor a unique look into the restored public areas and lodging rooms found on the upper floors of the historic, 1840s-era Ontario House.

The tours debuted Saturday during the annual Youngstown “Christmas in the Village” celebration. They continue throughout this week and conclude Sunday.

Youngstown Garden Club member Carroll Ann Simon said, “Our opening weekend has been a huge success with people raving about their experiences. The two nights of previews were sold-out and we had about 150 people come through on Saturday as part of the ‘Christmas in the Village’ event.”

The viewing areas feature holiday-themed décor created by Garden Club members. They include: “Christmas is Coming,” “Flower Hall,” “The Cozy Wonderland Cabin,” “Christmas Romance Boudoir,” “Christmas Romance Sitting Room,” “Happy Holly Days,” “Santa’s Sleeping,” and “The Night Before Christmas.”

Each self-guided tour is free and open to the public. No reservation is required. Viewing times are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. through Saturday, Dec. 16; and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
