On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Town of Niagara Lions and Helping Hands clubs, along with Town Historian Peter Ames, will host a Wreaths Across America ceremony. The event will be held at the Witmer Community Cemetery on Witmer Road and will commence at 10 a.m.

Master of ceremonies Lion Mike Hoplight will describe the meaning and creation of Wreaths Across America ceremonies, which will be held in communities all over the United States on this day. Ames will provide information on the new columbarium recently constructed in the cemetery. Helping Hands President Beth Colangelo will welcome everyone in attendance. Pastor Lisa Giacomazza of Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church will offer prayers.

Wreaths will be placed at the graveside of each veteran entered in the cemetery – one of whom served in the Civil War. Hoplight will conduct a special event honoring the veterans entered with a special salute from the civilians and veterans attending.

The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Hoplight at 716-390-6604 or [email protected].
