Marie Prince, Williamsville artist and judge of the Niagara Arts Guild 75th anniversary art show, chose Maggie Eaton’s photograph, “Purple Afterglow,” as best of show based on its “compelling composition and colors.”

Prince chose the watercolor, “It’s Lovely in the Woods Now,” by Manning McCandlish, for a second-place ribbon.

Phil Eaton’s oil painting, “Splat,” received third place.

Merit Awards were earned by Beth Fifield-Crane for her glass sculpture, “Wild Horses”; Peggy A. Taylor, for her basswood carving “Imagine the Impossibilities”; and Lynn Lomanto, for the watercolor and acrylic portrait “St. Mary’s.”

The competition took place at the Niagara History Center, 215 Niagara St., Lockport. The free show and sale will continue there on Mondays through Saturdays until Dec. 1.

The Niagara Arts Guild has represented Niagara-area artists since 1948.
