Empower, a nonprofit human services agency, is set to hold its first meat raffle to raise funds for a variety of programs supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

“Empower is in the process of opening a new facility and expanding our job training, workforce development, and day habilitation programming. To help support this new chapter in our mission to provide the best support services available to members of our community living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we will be holding our first annual meat raffle! In addition, proceeds will benefit other Empower programs such as our children’s academy and community housing,” Empower Executive Director Diane Baehre said. “We hope to see everyone out in November to support this important cause, and help make this event a major success and the first of many years to come!”

Empower will hold its meat raffle on Nov. 3 at Shawnee Volunteer Fire Co., 3747 Lockport Road, Sanborn. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the raffle will begin at 6 p.m. Pop, beer and wine will be free. Additionally, there will be basket raffles, 50/50, and big-ticket door prize raffles available to participants.

All proceeds from the event will go toward Empower’s programming, assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Tickets can be purchased here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/first-annual-empower-meat-raffle-tickets-680384096147?aff=oddtdtcreator.

A press release noted, “Empower was founded in 1954 and has served Western New York, specifically Niagara County, proudly for over 65 years ensuring that individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their loved ones, have access to the highest-quality support and services. Empower employs over 300 individuals and provides community programming, job and workforce development, and educational services.”
