The Council for Older Adults in Niagara County is hosting a free event about “The Real Cost of Clutter” in partnership with Niagara County Fire Coordinator and Director of Emergency Services Johnathan Schultz speaking, Aly Luccari from Bright Organizing Solutions, and Eric Conrad from Junkluggers. This event will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Shawnee Volunteer Fire Co., 3747 Lockport Road, Sanborn.

Organizers said, “Firefighters have asked us to have an event on clutter/hoarding. This free panel discussion will touch on the hazards related to clutter/hoarding and will share tips and tricks to get yourself organized and remove the clutter from your life. The firefighters have expressed that it is a real problem with them being unable to get into residences or having to struggle to get people out, not to mention that it is a fire hazard and can cause other problems, such as increased risk of falls, injury or being trapped by shifting or falling items, family conflicts, loneliness/social isolation, conditions that are not clean and can be a health risk, a fire hazard, and legal issues, such as eviction.

To register for this free event, call Heather at 716-285-8224, ext. 215. To learn more about the COA or HANCI, visit hanci.com.
