Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center begins construction on $2.8 million MRI imaging center

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center on Monday announced the start of construction on the state-of-the-art MRI Center of Niagara, what it called “a landmark initiative to bring the latest medical imaging technology, a 3T magnetic resonance imaging unit, to NFMMC's downtown campus.

“Representing an investment of $2.8 million, the MRI Center of Niagara underscores NFMMC's commitment to providing convenient and rapid access to top-tier diagnostic tools for patients throughout the region. With the new center, patients can expect to benefit from higher-quality scans, ensuring faster diagnosis and early detection of cancers and other potentially life-threatening conditions at stages where they are most treatable.

NFMMC President and CEO Joseph Ruffolo said, "Our goal is to reduce health disparities in the Niagara Region and provide timely access to appropriate treatments for all patients. The MRI Center of Niagara will significantly enhance our ability to diagnose various conditions such as coronary heart disease, heart valve issues, inflammation of heart tissues, tumors, and damage from heart attacks."

The MRI Center will be located within Memorial’s Heart Center, which will integrate outpatient diagnostic services at a single and convenient location.

This project is expected to be finished and fully operational, ready to serve the Niagara Region, by early 2024.
