Tops Friendly Markets will begin its annual campaign for the United Way of Erie and Niagara County Aug. 27 at all local participating Tops Friendly Market locations.

A press release stated, “Your donation of $1 at any Tops register (or by rounding up your change) allows United Way of Buffalo & Erie County to invest in programs and initiatives that offer the thousands of people who utilize United Way’s services in our community the assistance they need. Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health. United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes, and ‘Living United’ means being a part of the change.”

“With the help and compassion of our associates and customers, we know we can make a difference supporting the United Way Campaign,” said Diane Colgan, United Way board member and senior vice president of marketing and decision support for Tops Friendly Markets. “Together, we can build a stronger and healthier community.”

Tops has conducted this campaign with the United Way since 2013. It donated over $45,573 last year alone. Additionally, Tops has supported the United Way’s corporate challenge, and encourages its associates to make a contribution to the United Way’s annual campaign.

Based in Williamsville, Tops Markets currently operates 149 grocery stores in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont, including five that are run by franchisees. For more information, visit www.topsmarkets.com.
