ECDOH: Be ready for anything: Public health, public safety, preparedness & pets

Erie County departments of Health and Homeland Security & Emergency Services plan interactive and practical activities for Erie County Fair visitors during the “Best 12 Days of Summer.”

The summer tradition of carnival rides, fried foods, exceptional agriculture displays and musical entertainment has one more addition: activities designed to get Erie County residents ready for emergencies.

During the Erie County Fair (Aug. 9-20), the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) and Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) have planned 12 days of interactive stations and displays focused on being emergency preparedness.

With input from the DHSES division of fire safety and ECDOH emergency medical services, MERS and public health emergency preparedness, displays in the Marketplace Building will offer trainings, interactive educational programs and raffles, including:

√ ReadyErie app

√ Hands-only CPR, first aid, Stop the Bleed

√ Home emergency preparedness

√ All hazard weather preparedness

√ Stop the Bleed

√ Travel prep

√ Stop DWI

√ Pet emergencies

√ Recreational and sports safety

The full schedule of Erie County activities is available at www.erie.gov/fair. From Erie County, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, Senior Services, Social Services, Veterans Services, Environment and Planning, Parks, Recreation and Forestry, Office of Harm Reduction and more will also have a presence at the Erie County Fair in the Marketplace Building.
