9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit to visit Hamburg Fairgrounds

On Tuesday, Aug. 8, the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit will be escorted by local law enforcement, fire departments, EMS squads, along with veteran and first responder motorcycle groups from McKinley Mall to the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

It will depart the mall at 3 p.m. – beginning near Bed Bath & Beyond – to arrive at The Fairgrounds around 3:30 p.m. – heading south on McKinley Parkway to Delivery Gate B.

A press release stated, “We invite the community to line up on the sides of McKinley Parkway (off the roadway) to welcome the exhibit on its procession to the Fairgrounds.”

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to ensuring that Americans never forget what happened on Sept. 11, 2001. Since 2013, the mobile exhibit has traveled the country educating Americans. Tours of the exhibit are conducted by retired New York City firefighters who responded on 9/11. They share their stories and bring history to life.

The 83-foot-tractor-trailer transforms into a 1,100-square-foot exhibit, which features World Trade Center steel, aluminum façade from the buildings, radio transmission recordings, and items found in the rubble after the Twin Towers collapsed.

The exhibit will be located outside of Showplace from Aug. 9-14 during the Erie County Fair.

Tunnels to Towers Foundation recently provided a mortgage-free home to the family of local firefighter Jason Arno. Arno, 37, a three-year member of the Buffalo Fire Department, was killed in the line of duty while battling a four-alarm fire on March 1.
