President of Dong Nai Technology University visits Niagara University president

On a sunny afternoon in July, 10 Harley Davidson motorcycles rumbled onto Niagara University’s campus as 18 visitors from Vietnam arrived on Monteagle Ridge to take a tour and meet with the Rev. James. J. Maher, C.M., Niagara’s president. Among the group was Dr. Phan Ngoc Son, president of Dong Nai Technology University in Vietnam, and his daughter, Phan Võ Quỳnh Như, the vice president of the university’s international program and a 2018 Niagara University alumna.

Niagara University and Dong Nai Tech have had an agreement in place for nearly a decade which facilitates student study-abroad opportunities and faculty exchanges. In January 2020, Father Maher visited the Vietnamese university to discuss ways to increase student participation. The meeting this summer was intended to strengthen and grow the opportunities even further.

“Deeping our relationship with Dong Nai Technology University provides unique opportunities for students and faculty of both universities,” said Father Maher, who has made creating a more diverse and international campus a priority of his presidency. “Partnerships like these are critical to bringing a worldwide perspective to campus and preparing students for personal and professional success in an increasingly global economy.”
