Eight Days of Hope served 475 families in Lovejoy District

Eight Days of Hope (EDOH) wrapped up serving the Lovejoy District in Buffalo on Saturday, where over 1,700 volunteers helped 475 families with free home repairs.

Volunteers traveled from 34 states and two countries to the “City of Good Neighbors” and, together with local businesses, churches and nonprofits, completed $2.5 million of work. This included 17 roof replacements, 32 houses painted, 21 window replacements, and additional projects, like the revitalization of Schiller Park.

“We are so grateful for the support of the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency, Councilman Bollman’s office, the City of Buffalo, and so many others, who came together to show that Buffalo truly loves and cares for its own,” said Stephen Tybor III, EDOH president and CEO. “What a privilege it is to build a better Buffalo together.”

Councilman Bryan Bollman said, “It’s been a blessing and pleasure to welcome Eight Days of Hope into the Lovejoy District. Seeing the hundreds of volunteers from across the nation come into our city to uplift those most in need is something I’ll be forever thankful for. I’d like to especially thank Steve, Kim, Hannah, and his whole team for their ambition and dedication. Our communities will continue to progress and be vibrant thanks to the tremendous work we saw over this last week.”

Over 70 local companies, nonprofits and churches supported this outreach through in-kind donations, sending volunteers, or with financial support.
