The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association offers a monthly support group in Grand Island for families and individuals who care for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

The Grand Island caregiver support group meets the last Wednesday of every month from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Golden Age Center at 3278 Whitehaven Road. The next meeting will take place Wednesday, July 26.

A press release stated, “Support groups create a safe, confidential, supportive environment for community members to learn caregiving techniques and skills to solve problems, along with meeting and socializing with others who face the same caregiving challenges.

“To register for the support group, visit bit.ly/GrIslandSG or call the Alzheimer’s Association helpline at 800-272-3900. The helpline is also available, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for anyone to speak confidentially with master's-level care consultants for decision-making support, crisis assistance and education on everyday issues involving Alzheimer’s and dementia.”
