Eight Days of Hope (EDOH) is serving in the Lovejoy District from Saturday, July 15, to Saturday, July 22, completing free home repairs for 100 families in need – with the help of more than 1,300 volunteers and 50 local organizations.

This is the fourth annual outreach for EDOH in the “City of Good Neighbors.” Volunteers will work on projects such as roofing, painting, window installation, landscaping and porch repairs.

The City of Buffalo provided a $750,000 grant from its American Rescue Plan Funding (ARP). Funds are being administered and monitored by the City of Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency, where City of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown serves as chairman.

Brown said, “This is year two of our five-year commitment, and the results have been significant. Last year, hundreds of volunteers helped improve houses in the Fillmore District, and this year we’ll see improvements to homes in the Lovejoy neighborhood. We’re proud to continue this partnership with Eight Days of Hope. Their work greatly supports our mission to improve the quality of life for our residents.”

EDOH President and CEO Stephen Tybor III said, “As a Buffalo native, serving in this community brings me such joy. I love watching businesses, churches, nonprofits and neighbors come together to love on their own. It’s an honor to build a better Buffalo together.”

EDOH-Buffalo launched in 2019 in the University District, serving 375 families. In 2021, EDOH helped 202 families in the Masten District, and in 2022, 197 families in the Fillmore District.

Councilman Bryan Bollman said, "I am thrilled to welcome Eight Days of Hope into the Lovejoy District. Their arrival presents a unique opportunity for our community to join hands and make a lasting impact. Together, we will create positive changes, uplift our neighborhoods, and foster a stronger, more vibrant Lovejoy District. I am excited to witness the transformation and the incredible spirit of volunteerism that Eight Days of Hope brings to Buffalo.”
