Local July 4 festivities

Celebrate the Fourth of July with these local family-fun and fireworks spectaculars:

Niagara County

•In Lewiston, fireworks will begin to fly at dusk, from atop the spoils plateau, on Tuesday, July 4. A rain date is set for Wednesday.

•In Niagara Falls, Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino will present a fireworks show Monday, July 3. Gates open at 9 p.m., and the display begins at 9:40 p.m. A rain date is set for Wednesday, July 5.

In the City of Niagara Falls, July 4 fireworks will begin at dusk at Hyde Park.

•The Town of Niagara’s “Music Mania Mondays” concert series will hold a special event on Saturday, July 1. The schedule includes: 2 p.m. Desire (U2 Tribute); Just Heart (Heart Tribute Band); 6 p.m. Gypsy Queen (Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band); and 8 p.m. Anybody Out There (Pink Floyd Tribute). The series is staged at Veteran's Memorial Community Park, 7000 Lockport Road.

•The Town of Wheatfield will present live music and fireworks on Tuesday, July 4, at Oppenheim Park. Sooner Tunes Productions will perform at 6 p.m. Fireworks will be on display at dark. Celebrate with your family and friends.

Erie County

•The Town of Grand Island will hold its 53rd annual 4th of July Parade and 47th annual Dick Bessel Independence Day Run on Tuesday, July 4. Road closures will take place between 8:30 a.m. and noon. The schedule is as follows:

√ 8:30 a.m. – Grand Island Boulevard closes from traffic circle to intersection of Grand Island Boulevard and Baseline Road

√ 8:45 a.m. – Baseline Road closes from Alvin Road to Whitehaven Road

√ 9 a.m. – Kids run starts

√ 9:10 a.m. – Adult run starts

√ 9:45 a.m. (approximately) – Baseline Road opens

√ 9:45 a.m. (approximately) – parade starts

√ 11:30 a.m. (approximately) – parade ends

√ Noon (approximately) – all roads open
