VA Western New York Healthcare System will celebrate the spirit of Juneteenth with two major outreach events conducted by VA employee, FeedMore WNY and Resurrection Life Church volunteers.

A press release stated, “On Monday, June 19, volunteers will continue to match the sentiments of Dr. Martin Luther King Day by adding ‘a day on’ for community service.”

This is VA-sponsored employee volunteer driven outreach, and will include the following efforts to benefit the community:

√ Bailey Avenue community beautification efforts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. These efforts will be geared to assist residents with clean-up and beautification of the neighborhood.

√ Drive or walk-thru food donations provided and distributed by FeedMore WNY and Resurrection Life Church. Fresh, healthy food will be given to those veterans and Bailey Avenue residents in need from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the outpatient parking lot located at the Buffalo VA Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Ave.

Lastly, due to weather concerns this week, VA employees and volunteers will be celebrating Juneteenth with a ceremony and barbecue from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, at the Buffalo VA Medical Center’s Veterans Park.
