Fashion design and interior decorating students at the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center had an interesting and creative shadowing opportunity for the past several months.
The second-year students in Debbie Wilczak’s class have gone once a month to the North Tonawanda Goodwill Store, on Payne Avenue, to help create eye-catching window and store displays, revamp the accessory wall and put together some copycat looks of celebrity styles.
“It was a great volunteer experience for my students,” said Wilczak. “Not only did it help to revamp the store’s atmosphere, it enabled students to see firsthand the responsibilities needed to run a retail business. They really enjoyed volunteering their design skills and helping to have a positive effect on the community.”
