West Side Rowing Club hosts Head of the Niagara and Wright Regatta

On Sunday, the West Side Rowing Club of Buffalo hosted the annual Head of the Niagara and Wright Regatta in Buffalo. This year's two-mile headrace was the biggest in the event's history, drawing more than 150 entries and 23 teams from the Northeastern U.S., and Southern Ontario.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute dominated the youth boys' events, winning the youth men's first varsity 8, second varsity 8, second varsity 4, and second varsity 8. The team placed second in the youth men's freshman 8 and youth men's freshman 4.

On the Youth Women's side, Nardin Academy won the first varsity 4 and second varsity 8, and placed second in the second varsity 4 and first varsity 8. West Side won the first varsity 8 and freshman 8, and placed second in the first varsity 4 and second varsity 8.

Canisius College won the collegiate women's 8 and 4 events.

After a weekend of racing, select crews from Buffalo will spend the week preparing for the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, which will be held this weekend.
