During a check presentation Monday, New York State Sen. Rob Ortt, R-C-I-North Tonawanda, delivered a total of $40,000 in ceremonial checks to the public libraries in eastern Niagara County. The money can be used to assist with educational services and programming, purchasing materials, renovations, operations, or events that serve the community.
"Libraries allow us to enrich our lives and expand our education," Ortt said. "It's important to continue that enrichment by keeping our libraries updated and up to date with the latest technology. These grants will help our libraries continue to serve its community members."
The amount of Senate grant money to the county libraries is as follows:
Last month, Ortt delivered a combined $62,500 to public libraries in western Niagara County. The funds were secured by Ortt in the 2016-17 state budget, in addition to funding secured last year for public libraries in his district.
